Introducing Violet

A short post to introduce Violet.

Violet has some stories to tell, experiences to share and may sometimes want to air her views about issues.

Violet has been visually impaired all her life and has grown up in a family of visually impaired people.  Her partner has no sight and her children are both visually impaired.  Violet’s partner also grew up with a visually impaired brother and Violet and her partner both attended school with other visually impaired young people.

As such they both have very positive experiences of visual impairment and are confident they have a lot to offer and can support their children to grow and develop and face the challenges of the world.

This positive family experience compared with some of the challenges presented by the wider world has played a large part in developing the values Violet has today.

It is from this perspective that Violet wants to share the stories and additional challenges that Asperger’s syndrome has added a rich and varied life.

Violet has asked me to pretend I am her and to write this diary in her name.

All future posts will be written by me in Violet’s name

Thanks for reading.
